Pond Garden & Lower Terrace – Lanterns, Bollards & Pond Feature Lighting

Area 5

Zone B

A full architectural lighting composition for the Pond Garden and lower terrace, using twin-arm Victorian lampposts, heritage bollards, herbaceous lighting and (in the 5★ version only) an underwater pond feature. The scheme improves movement, defines routes and delivers a dramatic, warm-white night-time garden suitable for weddings, photography and events.

Description of Project

The Pond Garden forms the main transition between the rear terrace and the Lower Park — a 100 m × 50 m formal garden centred on a reflective pond, defined by yew hedging and two sets of stone steps (terrace entry and park entry). At present, night-time visibility is limited and the garden does not perform as an evening event space.

This lighting proposal introduces a coherent, estate-grade architectural composition.

Four twin-arm Victorian heritage lampposts create the primary structure:
• Two posts flank the terrace staircase, framing the descent into the garden.
• Two posts frame the steps into the park, defining the onward route and visually linking garden and parkland.

Eight heritage bollards then provide soft, warm-white ground lighting:
• Four positioned along the lower yew hedge to reveal structure without glare.
• Four marking the left and right cross-path exits (two each side), ensuring safe, intuitive movement at night.

Herbaceous lighting sits beneath the terrace in the two side beds.
• Each garden receives two five-star herbaceous kits (four in total), delivering height, texture and balanced layering that ties into the herbaceous schemes elsewhere in the estate.

In the five-star scheme, the pond becomes the centrepiece, lit using six warm-white submerged architectural fittings, producing a controlled glow that lifts the centre of the composition.

All power is delivered via 2.5 mm² 4-core SWA cabling split left and right from the SpearPoint controller at the top arcade. Cable routing follows planting where possible to minimise ground disturbance. All scenes are controlled via the SpearPoint unit, enabling day-to-day, wedding and event presets.

FIVE STAR PROPOSAL

Our highest-specification scheme using premium architectural fittings

The five-star scheme delivers a complete, estate-grade composition for the Pond Garden. The four twin-arm lampposts establish a strong architectural spine — two posts framing the descent from the terrace, two posts framing the steps into the park — giving clear structure and excellent visibility without overpowering the space.

The eight Vanguard heritage bollards provide gentle warm-white pools of light along the hedge line and at the two side exits, ensuring guests can move intuitively and safely. Their traditional cast forms feel entirely at home in Easthampstead Park’s historical setting.

The two herbaceous gardens receive four premium kits, creating soft, elegant planting-light that ties this space into the wedding and terrace gardens. In the centre, six underwater lights transform the pond into a calm, controlled focal point — photogenic, atmospheric and ideal for weddings or evening events.

All circuits return to the SpearPoint controller, giving the hotel full control of scenes for everyday use, events and weekend evenings.

NOTES

Noted differences in costs for this quotation between 5 Star Proposal & 8-12-25 Meeting

• Removal of the four twin-arm lampposts and the bollard lighting that originally framed the terrace descent and park steps.

The new low-voltage scheme replaces this with a cohesive, fully integrated architectural composition. Discreet uplighters now define the U-shaped yew hedge, the pond receives calm warm-white illumination, and the herbaceous borders gain soft layered accents. Walkover uplighters lift the balustrade, creating a clear, elegant promenade edge. Powered across a new LV distribution with four Spearhead-controlled channels, the garden gains full scene-setting, seasonal flexibility and seamless alignment with the driveway lighting style. The result is a cleaner, safer, more sculptural night-time environment that feels purposefully designed.

DEFINED INSTALL

Our cost efficient-specification scheme using premium architectural fittings

The Defined Plan for the Pond Garden delivers a refined, lower-level architectural lighting strategy using warm-white illumination throughout. The scheme preserves the original layout’s intent while providing a more subtle, cost-efficient treatment. By removing the four Victorian twin-arm lampposts and pathway bollards, the plan maintains safe circulation, reduces vertical clutter, and enhances long-range views across the pond. Dedicated balustrade-up-lighting kits frame the entrance, with all cabling discreetly routed under yew hedges and integrated with SpearPoint control for a seamless, future-proof installation.

New Lighting Content
28 × LV uplighters along the yew hedges
4 × herbaceous garden schemes
20 × additional uplighters to the hotel side of the terrace wall (architectural feature)
1 × pond lighting kit (4 fittings)
4 × LV power points / feed positions in high-impact plastic conduit
1 × Spearhead controller

DEFINED COSTINGS

Refined after 9.12.25 discussion: cost-effective, high-quality architectural fittings.

The four-star Pond Garden scheme keeps the same structural layout and cabling but uses NiteLED Dome bollards instead of Vanguard heritage units and omits the underwater pond feature. It still includes four twin-arm Victorian lampposts, four herbaceous kits and full SpearPoint control, giving strong improvements in movement, safety and garden presence at a lower capital cost. INSTALLATION & POWER NOTES

A SpearPoint controller is mounted discreetly on the side of the top arcade. From this location, 2.5mm² 4-core SWA mains cabling runs approximately 150m left and 150m right to feed lampposts, bollards and herbaceous gardens. A short 3-core feeder connects directly into the SpearPoint enclosure. Cable runs are routed under planting and protected by hedges wherever possible, so only soft trenching and local hand-digging are required. Lampposts and bollards are installed on concrete pads with appropriate glands and junction arrangements. Each herbaceous garden receives a dedicated power point feeding two kits. In the five-star scheme, IP68 underwater pond lights are installed with sealed glands and a remote transformer. All circuits are tested and commissioned through the SpearPoint controller with labelled zones for future expansion.
