A warm-white, heritage-led driveway scheme using Victorian lantern columns and optional tree-uplighting clusters to create a prestigious, safe and coherent arrival experience from the barrier gateway, through the woodland approach, to the hotel, all controlled via the existing SpearPoint unit at the gate.

Description of Project
Area 2D covers the full woodland drive between the barrier gateway and the hotel, forming the longest and most visually important landscape sequence within the estate. Historically, this section has been lit inconsistently, with ageing fittings that do not align with the architectural quality of Easthampstead Park. This scheme replaces that with a continuous line of Victorian-style lantern columns, creating a warm-white, heritage-appropriate approach that feels refined, safe and highly coordinated with the rest of the estate.
Up to thirty-two heritage lantern columns are positioned along the 800-metre driveway, spaced to provide smooth, glare-free guidance lighting. Each column uses a warm-white 10W squirrel-cage lamp to maintain the traditional aesthetic established in Areas 1 and 2.
To enrich the woodland character and strengthen the arrival sequence, optional low-voltage tree-uplighting clusters are positioned every 100 metres along the left-hand side. Each pack uses LightPro Castor 9 uplighters to sculpt the trunks and lower canopies, transforming the drive into a subtle, elegant woodland avenue.
Power is delivered through a stepped SWA mains backbone — 16mm → 10mm → 6mm — with radials taken from Posts 4, 12 and 28. Everything returns to the existing SpearPoint controller at the gate, allowing coordinated dimming, timing and scene control without additional hardware.
This zone completes the full Area 2 progression: from forecourt, through gateway, to the long woodland approach — creating a cohesive, prestigious and memorable arrival experience.

FIVE STAR PROPOSAL
Our highest-specification scheme using premium architectural fittings
The five-star specification delivers a complete transformation of the woodland driveway, turning it into a fully coherent, characterful and event-ready approach to the hotel. Thirty-two Victorian heritage lantern columns are installed along the route, each fitted with a warm-white 10W squirrel-cage lamp to provide a soft, traditional glow that is fully in keeping with Easthampstead Park’s architecture. Their spacing is engineered to provide smooth, continuous guidance lighting without producing glare or over-brightness, supporting both vehicle movement and pedestrian safety.
In addition to the column lighting, eight low-voltage tree-uplighting packs are positioned at approximately 100-metre intervals along the left-hand tree line. Using LightPro Castor 9 architectural uplighters, these clusters gently reveal the trunks and lower canopies, adding depth and rhythm to evening arrivals. The result is a sculpted woodland avenue that feels both luxurious and welcoming, particularly valuable for high-profile events, weddings and late-night functions.
Power is distributed via a stepped SWA backbone with radials from Posts 4, 12 and 28, ensuring robust volt-drop performance and straightforward maintenance. Crucially, the scheme connects into the existing Spearhead controller at the gate, so the estate can benefit from unified dimming, timed scenes and night-time softening without additional control hardware. The overall effect is a prestige driveway installation that elevates the sense of arrival and reinforces the hotel’s country-house identity.
NOTES
Noted differences in costs for this quotation between 5 Star Proposal & 8-12-25 Meeting
The defined plan replaces the lamp posts with a dual-sided tree-uplighting scheme and introduces two full-length SWA backbones—one per side—rather than a single shared run. Both sides require full trenching, adding some cost, but ensuring future symmetry and allowing Victorian lamp posts to be added later without disruption.
Sixteen uplighting clusters (eight per side) use LightPro Castor 9 fittings with dedicated transformers for consistent warm-white illumination. Each 5-core backbone provides two circuits: one for the new tree lighting and one reserved for future lamp posts, sized to support up to twenty columns per side with full compliance and volt-drop control.
A mole under the driveway is required on the right side (PC £400). The result is a clean, future-ready installation that protects the long-term vision for a symmetrical, heritage-lined drive.
DEFINED INSTALL
Our cost efficient-specification scheme using premium architectural fittings
The defined plan replaces the lamp posts with a full dual-sided tree-uplighting system. Sixteen clusters in total—eight per side—run the length of the 800-metre driveway, each using LightPro Castor 9 architectural uplighters fed from dedicated transformers to ensure consistent warm-white illumination and reliable performance.
A new 5-core SWA backbone is installed along each side of the drive. This provides two independent circuits: one for the immediate tree-lighting installation and a second reserved for future Victorian lamp posts. Cable sizing has been calculated to maintain full compliance and volt-drop performance for up to twenty lamp posts per side, enabling easy future expansion without retrenching or replacing the backbone.
The left-hand side requires a mole under the driveway (PC £400), with both sides allowing for trenching in the standard manner. The result is an elegant, lower-cost initial installation that is fully future-proofed for later lamp-post adoption.

DEFINED COSTINGS
Refined after 9.12.25 discussion: cost-effective, high-quality architectural fittings.
The Defined Solution removes the street lamps but includes trenches along both sides of the driveway for four dedicated circuits. This allows future lamp posts to be easily added, each requiring 10 m of trenching. The design balances cost efficiency today with flexibility for seamless expansion and balanced power distribution tomorrow.
