Family Garden Lighting Project
Description
Transforming a large family garden into a safe, stylish, and flexible space for both everyday life and evening entertaining.
Description
The Brief
The clients wanted their large family garden to be safe, stylish, and usable after dark. Their priorities included secure paths for children, cosy seating areas, dramatic feature lighting, and flexible zones for entertaining, ensuring year-round enjoyment for the whole family.
Project Details
Our design divided the garden into multiple lighting zones for flexibility. Pathway lighting guides movement safely along the main routes, tree uplighting adds structure and drama, seating areas are softly illuminated to create a warm atmosphere, and feature lighting highlights architectural plants and focal points.
Practical outdoor sockets were included for seasonal lighting or future garden expansions. During installation, our Part P–compliant team used durable, low-energy LED fittings, carefully concealing cabling to protect lawns and planting. Each zone was wired for smart control, enabling the family to illuminate areas as needed — from casual evenings to entertaining guests.
The finished garden is a sanctuary. Safe illuminated paths, cosy seating, and atmospheric uplighting create a layered, three-dimensional effect. The space is practical, stylish, and adaptable for both family life and entertaining.

Featured seating area
Lighting each garden ‘room’ individually brings character and depth, enhancing any scheme from compact courtyards to expansive landscapes.
Uplighting feature tree
Few things transform a garden at night like a beautifully illuminated tree. Whether it’s a graceful silver birch, a sculptural olive, or a mature oak with decades of character, uplighting draws the eye and turns natural beauty into living architecture. Done well, it creates drama, depth, and atmosphere — all while celebrating one of your garden’s defining features.

Enhancing the corners.
When daylight fades, gardens can appear smaller — boundaries disappear into shadow, and even generous plots can feel enclosed. But with clever lighting design, you can visually expand your outdoor space, creating depth, balance, and a sense of flow that transforms how your garden feels after dark.
One of the simplest and most effective ways to achieve this is by lighting the corners.
Spearhead™, a UK-engineered wireless control system, to manage multiple garden lighting zones effortlessly. Designed for flexibility and reliability, it allows clients to control pathways, uplights, and water features via a simple app or remote. The system includes timers, dusk-to-dawn automation, and four independent circuits, all housed in a durable, weatherproof enclosure.
Energy Efficiency
All fittings are high-quality LEDs, zoned to illuminate only the areas in use. This ensures minimal energy consumption while maintaining a fully covered, beautiful garden at night.
Future-Proofing
The system includes:
Outdoor sockets for seasonal or temporary use
Power options for future garden features
Utility sockets for garden machinery and practical needs
Combined with long warranties and optional annual servicing, the scheme is designed for longevity and adaptability.
