Stained-Glass Feature Window & Stone Surround
Area 1
Zone D
A discreet twin-wire lighting system installed within each stained-glass recess, using four compact warm-white spot heads to wash light gently across the glass. The scheme enhances colour, texture and heritage detail while keeping all fittings slim, minimal and visually unobtrusive.

Stained-Glass Feature Window & Stone Surround
The Brief
Overview of the proposed lighting installation
This scheme uses the CorDuo Mac II low-voltage cable system to illuminate each stained-glass panel with sensitivity and precision. Each recess carries a horizontal twin-wire span supporting four miniature adjustable spot heads, scaled to remain visually discreet while allowing accurate beam control. Warm-white LED lamps gently reveal the depth, colour and leadwork of the historic glass, enhancing pattern and texture without overwhelming the stairwell or causing glare. Fixings are intentionally minimal and installed through mortar joints to protect the original fabric of the building. A single transformer provides safe 12V operation, delivering low heat output, high reliability and efficient performance. The result is a refined, heritage-appropriate lighting solution that celebrates this important architectural feature with elegance and restraint.

The Plan
Outline programme for the lighting installation
This installation proposes a discreet, wired architectural lighting solution running from the head to the sill within the window recess, allowing the stained glass and surrounding stonework to be revealed with precision and care. Power and control are taken from the external lighting system, avoiding invasive internal works while retaining full dimming, scene control and integration with the wider façade scheme.
The approach mirrors the 5-Star specification, ensuring consistency with our highest architectural standards. The system is based on the CorDuo Area 1D Mac II Twin-Wire lighting system, selected for its minimal visual impact and exceptional control.
Five elegant wire-suspended runs are installed to the internal elevation, each carrying four to five miniature adjustable Mac II spot heads fitted with warm-white GU5.3 LED lamps. Final spacing and aiming are set on site to achieve even, refined illumination across the glass.
Controlled via the Spearhead system, the stained glass reads as a calm, glowing architectural feature both inside and out.
The Installation
Installation Methodology
Each twin-wire run is tension-mounted within the window recess, fixed into mortar joints to avoid disturbance to stone or timber. A concealed transformer provides safe 12V power to all fittings, with cable routing kept minimal and hidden. All spot heads are fully adjustable, allowing precise aiming across the height and detail of the stained glass.

Future Proof
A lighting system built for future adaptability and reliability
Although this is a heritage-sensitive feature, the installation remains compatible with seasonal adjustments through the SpearPoint controller. Brightness can be reduced for winter ambience, subtly increased for festive periods, or balanced with the wider façade for event lighting. The twin-wire system allows re-aiming of individual heads should temporary decorations be placed nearby, ensuring the stained glass remains a refined focal point throughout the year.
Warranties & Optional Maintenances Plan
All lighting installations by Garden Lighting Solutions by Eagle & Spear include a comprehensive 12-month warranty covering fittings and workmanship, providing assurance that the system will perform as designed. Any installation or component-related issues arising within this period will be addressed promptly and professionally at no additional cost.
The first year also includes a maintenance plan to protect the long-term quality of the installation. This covers routine system checks, minor alignment adjustments and confirmation that all fittings, connections and controls are operating correctly, helping to maintain consistent lighting levels as the garden matures.
After the initial 12 months, clients may opt for an annual maintenance plan. This can include inspections, lamp replacement, cleaning of fittings, repairs and ongoing optimisation, ensuring the lighting scheme continues to perform reliably year after year.
