Central Front Entrance and Grand Porch

Area 1

Zone A

A warm-white architectural lighting scheme illuminates the grand porch, pilasters and historic coat of arms using three dedicated architectural uplighting kits and three new power points. It creates a confident, welcoming arrival moment for Easthampstead Park, establishing hierarchy, clarity and atmosphere, and setting the tone for the entire estate frontage.

The Brief

Overview of the proposed lighting installation

Area 1A forms the principal architectural focus of Easthampstead Park’s entrance façade. The grand stone porch, carved archway, pilasters and historic coat of arms establish the hotel’s first impression. This scheme introduces warm-white architectural lighting that enhances depth, symmetry and stone texture while remaining sensitive to the heritage setting.

Three LightPro Architecture & Tree Spot Kits are installed: one to the left façade, one to the right, and one serving the upper levels and roof flagpole. Each is fed from a dedicated new power point, returning neatly to a SpearPoint façade controller. Together they highlight pilasters, framing and the central crest, creating a balanced elevation visible from driveway and forecourt. Existing ramp lighting converts to warm-white for full colour unity.

The Plan

Outline programme for the lighting installation

The Area 1A installation provides a clear, architectural lighting composition focused on the Grand Porch and its immediate façade. Four discreet in-ground uplighters will illuminate the porch pilasters, one per pilaster, emphasising vertical rhythm and arrival presence. A single uplighter to the left and one to the right will highlight the turrets flanking the entrance. At roof level, two uplighters mounted on the porch roof will wash the corbels of the building above, visually linking lower and upper architecture. A dedicated spotlight will illuminate the roof-level flagpole.

While on site, the existing coat-of-arms lighting will be re-engineered, with one fitting at first-floor level and one at third-floor level, realigned and matched to the same warm-white colour temperature. Ten existing eyelid fittings within the lower front wall will receive warm-white lamp replacements to unify the scheme. The entire installation is controlled via a Spearhead lighting controller, distributing mains power to each section and allowing remote control and coordinated scene management.

The Installation

Installation Methodology

All installation works in this zone follow a high-standard, heritage-safe methodology suited to Easthampstead Park. Three new power points are installed and discreetly routed to feed the architectural kits and SpearPoint controller, with each run including trenching, cable laying, backfill and careful reinstatement. Existing supplies are rationalised to create a cleaner, more resilient distribution layout. Extra-low-voltage cabling is used for safety and reliability, with weather-rated junctions and fully compliant terminations. Cable routes are concealed within mortar lines, architectural breaks or shadow gaps, and all fixings are fully reversible. Upper façade and flagpole connections use scaffold tower access. Final aiming completed.

Future Proof

A lighting system built for future adaptability and reliability

This zone has been designed with future flexibility in mind. All architectural uplights are fully compatible with the SpearPoint controller, enabling bespoke seasonal scenes, dimmed festive settings and extended event-mode operation without additional cabling. Three new power points provide spare capacity for temporary installations such as warm-white fairy lighting, Christmas garlands or short-run event projectors positioned on the porch or terrace. The LV infrastructure allows seasonal additions to be connected safely and discreetly, with fittings easily re-aimed or re-balanced for weddings, corporate events or winter celebrations. This forward-planned approach avoids future re-work and keeps the entrance adaptable throughout the year.

Warranties & Optional Maintenances Plan

All lighting installations by Garden Lighting Solutions by Eagle & Spear include a comprehensive 12-month warranty covering fittings and workmanship, providing assurance that the system will perform as designed. Any installation or component-related issues arising within this period will be addressed promptly and professionally at no additional cost.

The first year also includes a maintenance plan to protect the long-term quality of the installation. This covers routine system checks, minor alignment adjustments and confirmation that all fittings, connections and controls are operating correctly, helping to maintain consistent lighting levels as the garden matures.

After the initial 12 months, clients may opt for an annual maintenance plan. This can include inspections, lamp replacement, cleaning of fittings, repairs and ongoing optimisation, ensuring the lighting scheme continues to perform reliably year after year.
